Our Mission
Chiropractic Stroke Awareness Organization is a non-profit organization with a mission to raise awareness on the risk of stroke from upper cervical manipulations and, most importantly, to provide a supportive community for stroke victims and their family members.
If you have suffered such a stroke, please know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE (our motto) and we are here to help you in any way we can. We have established a confidential online community of stroke survivors and family members that provides a cohesive support system; in essence, a sanctuary, where you will find many others who have experienced the life-altering, devastating effects of suffering a stroke, as well as family members of stroke survivors and victims whose strokes took their lives. First and foremost, if you believe you have suffered a stroke, please seek emergency medical treatment immediately!
Some signs and symptoms of stroke may include:
- Dizziness or vertigo
- Loss of balance, fainting and loss of coordination
- Nausea and vomiting
- Sudden blurred or double vision
- Sudden, severe headache, which may be accompanied by stiffness in your neck, facial pain, head pain, vomiting and altered consciousness
- Confusion, problems with spatial orientation, perception and memory
Symptoms may develop immediately after an upper cervical manipulation, but it can also manifest hours, days and even weeks before you become symptomatic and suffer a stroke. Seeking medical help immediately dramatically impacts your ability to recover and can, ultimately, save your life.
